About our courses

We offer course for infant and primary schools as well as for Secondary schools.

The SPWA is affiliated with the largest coaching college in Europe, Noble Manhattan Coaching Ltd (‘Noble Manahattan’). The SPWA and Noble Manhattan offer six specialist training courses in school coaching:

Infant & Primary Schools

Course: Foundation in Infant and Primary School Coaching

Foundation in Infant and Primary School Coaching (FIPSC)

This course is for individuals who either work in an Infant or Primary School setting or would like to work in such a setting. On this course, individuals will learn coaching tools and skills to help support pupils with basic performance, mental health and wellbeing issues. This course is run as a two-day training course in central London.

Alternatively, it can be delivered to a school as: (i) two staff inset training days; or (ii) one inset training day and four 1.5 hr training sessions

Course: Certificate in Infant and Primary School Coaching

Certificate in Infant and Primary School Coaching (CIPSC)

This course is for qualified coaches, counsellors and psychotherapists who would like a bolt on qualification to allow them to work as a specialist School Coach in a Primary and Infant School setting. This is a blended learning course with the following course requirements:

  • Attending a two-day training course.
  • Writing/completing learning consolidation exercises, one short essay and one assignment.
  • Practice hours and a practical assessment.

As for duration, it will take most people approximately four-six months to complete. Please note that this course can also be used to evidence CPD.

Course: Practitioner and School Coach Diploma – Infant and Primary Schools

Practitioner and School Coach Diploma – Infant and Primary Schools (PSCD/IPS)

This higher-level course is for anyone who wants a double qualification, enabling them to work as a specialist School Coach in an Infant and Primary School setting (supporting pupils and staff) and a general Practitioner Coach with IAPC&M accreditation (supporting individuals of all ages). This is a blended learning course with practical and written course requirements. These include:

  • Attending a three-day retreat and two additional training days.
  • Attending or listening to recorded webinars.
  • Writing/completing reflective learning notes, learning consolidation. exercises, three short essays and one assignment.
  • 60 practical hours and two practical assessments.

As for duration, it will take most people approximately one year – 18 months to complete.

The Other subject

What is the Other subject?

All of the school coaching training courses offered by Noble Manhattan and the SPWA incorporate a two-day training course to deliver a ground-breaking coaching and personal development programme for pupils, called ‘The Other Subject’.

The Other Subject comprises of 100 personal development lessons for school (from Reception through to Year 13).

50 of these lessons are dedicated to Infant and Primary Schools - referred to as ‘OS Junior’.

50 of these lessons are dedicated to Secondary Schools and Sixth Form Colleges – referred to as ‘OS Secondary’.

Depending on which training course you choose, you will focus solely on OS Junior or OS Secondary.

The lessons are delivered by school staff, counsellors or coaches trained to deliver this programme.

All lessons are unisex, age-appropriate. They are also spread across the following seven modules, each module representing a key areas of maturation and development for pupils:

  • Mindfulness
  • Relationship with yourself
  • Relationships with others
  • Communication
  • Resilience
  • Future Planning
  • Accomplishment
