Instructions on how to submit content to the editorial team

This document outlines the quality control process for internal teams at Dogs Trust. Each step of the process needs to be completed in order for the editorial team to place content on the website. Failure to produce quality content for the website means less web traffic and it reduces our ability to raise awareness of the work we do.

Getting your content ready

Copy your content into www.hemingwayapp.com

Hemingway App makes your writing bold and clear. The app highlights long, complex sentences and common errors; if you see a yellow sentence, shorten or split it. If you see a red highlight, your sentence is so dense and complicated that your readers will get lost trying to follow its meandering, splitting logic — try editing this sentence to remove the red. You can utilize a shorter word in place of a purple one. Mouse over it for hints.

Adverbs are helpfully shown in blue. Get rid of them and pick verbs with force instead. Phrases in green have been marked to show passive voice. You can format your text with the toolbar.Paste in something you're working on and edit away. Or, click the Write button to compose something new.

No excuses here. We have a 3 strikes and your out policy for submitting content with typos and spelling mistakes
Organised or Organized. Insert yes or no in the form above to confirm.
Image Instructions

All content must have the minimum of one image. Any content supplied without an image will not be placed on the website. The imagery must be correctly labelled and landscape. If you are supplying more than one image – they all need to be in landscape and a suitable size for the website – we prefer 1920 (width) x 480 (height) for the hero banner. Pictures need to be supplied at a larger size than intended for their use on the website – it is impossible to make pictures larger but it is possible to reduce pictures and keep the image quality.

If you are submitting more than one dog please clearly label the name of the dog, the rehoming centre and date. If you are supplying an image of a dog you must supply the correct link or the DTS Number. Failure to provide this information will mean the imagery will not be used and the information not placed on the website.

Please try to keep images at a maximum of 20 per dog.

When supplying imagery for dogs please label which image you want to be the main one – that will show on the homepage. This needs to be the best one to make people click through to find out more about the dog.
